I have many friends who believe the ISIS is a big problem/threat to our country and western civilization based on Judeo-christian. Are you kidding? Yes they are violent, ruthless but also just band of ragtag thugs killing in the name of religion. Their numbers do not surpass 20-30 thousand. If we the United States of America should fear them, we completely mismanage what our ancestors left us with. The United States of America, the great superpower that leads by example not by what the polls say. Quite a few people are still alive from the Greatest Generation who lived through the Great Depression, fought in WWII and as soon as they defeated the Axis had to turn around to face The Big Red Menace (Soviet Empire). They did not complain, they did not break, they did not give up. They worked hard; they sacrificed in the name of family, country and faith. I do not care if I offend anyone but to fall a victim to nightly news is embarrassing. The only thing that stops us from doing more is ourselves.
Now let’s get back to ISIS and our foreign policy. ISIS will never become the ruler of the Arab world because these type of people (sometimes it’s hard to call them that) do not have the ability to co-exist. The fight/war is their way of life. The moment they become powerful enough will ignite their own inner struggle for dominance and it will lead to splintering. Fractioned enemy is easier to defeat or they dissolve into many different factions and start the process all over again. We’ve seen this happened many times in the last few centuries.
Where the problem lies is with us, American citizens who believe the government’s hysteria every time there is a crisis. We know the respective parties control respective media outlets to their benefit. Do not fall prey to another call for more spending, regulations or restrictions of our freedom to fight middle eastern terrorists. If the government does its job well, they already have plenty of resources to resolve any crisis that arises on the horizon. They can only play this game of “do not let any crisis go to waste” if we allow them. Bring on “crisis” number two.
“The climate change” has been around for as long as the Earth. I would like to have someone from the media establishment ask a question at the White House or any government press conference why fighting The Climate Change always mean more money going to the government in forms of taxes/fees, more limited personal freedoms/choices or increasing the role of government in general. It has nothing to do with combating terrorists, climate change or improving health care. It has everything to do with us providing their lifestyle. This is my call to make as many of people as possible to think for themselves yet think about others who come after us. Do not let history label our generations as Nation of sheep.
I could not end this blog without mentioning Obama administration’s stand on Israel. WHAT STAND???? The president and his foreign policy team is not aware of times in history when not taking a stand means making a stand for the enemy. I come from small country that was given up by major European superpowers and eventually swallowed up whole by Hitler’s Germany (check Munich Conference 1938, occupation March 1939). We had the ability to defend ourselves only if Great Britain and France honored their treaty. They did not only honor the treaty but they actually gave us up as bait to Nazis. It did not work for long and they were in the midst of the bloodiest war known to men less than year later. I’m hundred percent positive most readers and most people in general just about now saying it’s not going to happen to us. And I am just as hundred percent positive that is what the Brits and French folk were saying then.
I have called out US citizens to be more engaged, responsible and proactive. Now I would like to call out Mr. President and his administration to stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel, unconditionally. There is no other country in this world that fights more for the same core values we believe in. Do not let them down; do not try to gauge what the popular decision is. Survival of Israel is directly connected to survival of our values.
Foot note: In the age of information technology revolution we are currently experiencing that everybody has a voice. Most people believe it’s for the better and I’m with that crowd under one condition. If more voices mean more educated opinions we are fortunate. But it is not the case. We have many outlets but very few, probably only couple of different voices. The Republicans (in name only, hardly have anything to do with Conservatism anymore) and the other side is represented by the Democrats. It is not only the politicians but the rest of the masses who follow exactly what their side is spewing. Where are the independent thoughts from the rest of us. What a shame!!! Great time in history and we are wasting it being comfortable and lazy.
